This jacket features our logwood dyed jean cloth a six piece body, two piece sleeves,
nonbuttoning beltloops, nonbuttoning shoulder straps, if ordered as a finished jacket our standard RDII has the typical nine
button closure with a button affixed through each shoulder strap. It is lined in cotton osnaburg and has an inside pocket.
These jackets
seem to have been produced by the Richmond Clothing Bureau primarily for
the A.N.V. These jackets seem to have been in
production from the Spring of 1862 to mid-1864. They are seen in
photographs in use through to the end of the war.
** Remember a blank RDII can easily be altered to a RDI, RDIII or Commutation jacket from a blank.
What is a Jacket Blank?
Blanks are garments that are completely put together, but with no
button holes or top stitching. A blank is wearable when you receive it.
It is not a bundle of pieces that have to be sorted out and joined
together. You will know that a blank is a fit before doing a lot of work
on it only to find it does not fit and cannot be returned. It is enough
for many customers to put their effort in the hand finishing of the
garment.
To finish a jacket blank you will need to
- add buttons
- Stitch the button holes
- turn under and whip stitch about 6" of the lining to the jacket
- top stitching if you wish
Please
be sure that your blank fits you before finishing work is done as we
will not accept returns of blanks once they have had finishing work done
by anyone other than ACW Kits.
A blank includes the assembled pieces and instructions for finishing the garment.
Our in stock blanks typically ship within 2-3 business days.
