What is a Frock Coat Blank?
Blanks are garments that are completely put together, but with no
button holes or top stitching. A blank is wearable when you receive it.
It is not a bundle of pieces that have to be sorted out and joined
together. You will know that a blank is a fit before doing a lot of work
on it only to find it does not fit and cannot be returned. It is enough
for many customers to put their effort in the hand finishing of the
garment.
To finish a frock coat blank you will need to
- add buttons
- Stitch the button holes
- add some whip stitches to the outside tail of the frock
- whip stitch the back interior of the jacket to close it
- top stitching if you wish
What is a Finished Jacket?
If you choose to order a finished jacket we will hand sew your button holes, sew the buttons on (if you choose to include buttons), hand stitch the lining closed at the neck and machine top stitch it (if you choose that option). The jacket will be ready to wear when you receive it. If you wish to have the buttonholes sewn for you but want to hand topstitch your jacket please choose the no top stitching option. You may also choose this option if you just prefer to have no top stitching on your jacket.
